On March 31, BWT Precision AutoTrader becomes BWT EdgeMax. If you’ve been away for a while, this might sound like a rebrand. It’s not. The platform has been quietly evolving — new capabilities, new tools, a new ecosystem around the execution engine — and the old name stopped fitting a long time ago. Here’s what’s actually happening.
The Platform Outgrew the Name
“AutoTrader” described one thing the platform did: auto-trade. But over the past few years, something unexpected happened. Half our community wasn’t using it for full automation at all. They were using it as a precision execution layer for their own entries — letting the system handle sizing, stops, targets, and exits while they stayed in control of the trade decision.
That’s how Discretionary Mode was born. Today, EdgeMax runs two fundamentally different execution modes under one roof. Algo Mode handles fully automated strategy execution with six signal modules and 15-plus filters. Discretionary Mode manages professional bracket execution on trades you enter yourself. No other NinjaTrader product does both.
The word “AutoTrader” also carries baggage. Every NinjaTrader trader has seen a dozen products with “auto” in the name, most promising effortless profits. That was never what this platform was about. If you’ve used BWT’s tools, you know the real work happens in weeks of backtesting, walk-forward testing, and parameter refinement. The old name invited the wrong expectations. EdgeMax says what the platform actually delivers: maximum execution edge, however you choose to trade.
Command Center: Control Your Strategy from Anywhere
This is the capability no other NinjaTrader vendor has built — or, as far as we know, even attempted.
Command Center lets you monitor and control your running NinjaTrader strategy from any browser or phone. Check your live session status, see today’s P&L, win rate, and drawdown in real time. Enable or disable your strategy remotely. Adjust brackets, flatten positions, and manage risk — all without being at your trading desk.
If you’ve ever been away from your computer during a session and felt that knot in your stomach wondering what your strategy is doing, Command Center exists to solve that problem. It ships with every EdgeMax subscription. No extra cost, no separate app store download. It connects to your running strategy and gives you full visibility and control wherever you are.
Performance Lab: See What Your Trading Actually Looks Like
Performance Lab is a new analytics add-on that does something no external trade journal can replicate. It captures every bracket modification, every fill, every market condition — automatically, continuously, at the point of execution inside NinjaTrader.
Here’s why that matters. When you move a stop, adjust a target, or trail a position, NinjaTrader overwrites the previous state. That modification history is gone. External journals like TraderSync or TradeZella never see it because it doesn’t exist by the time they import your trades. Performance Lab captures it in real time, before it disappears.
The result: you can see your planned R versus your realized R on every trade. You can measure execution efficiency — how much of your intended edge you’re actually capturing. You can review bracket lifecycle replays that show exactly what happened to your stops and targets over the life of each position. Chart screenshots and market context snapshots are captured automatically. No manual entry, no forgotten screenshots, no end-of-day data export.
Performance Lab is a separate subscription ($29/mo) and is not included with existing licenses. It requires an active EdgeMax subscription.
What Carries Forward
The execution engine underneath is the same proven codebase. All six trading modules — Volatility Stop, 3-Line Break, BBO Breakout, Opening Range Breakout, Wave Splitter, and Auto OCO — work exactly as they do today. The full filtering system, all exit management logic, multi-bracket targets, trailing stops, break-even rules — everything carries forward. No parameters renamed, no behaviors altered.
If you have an active subscription, the transition is automatic. Update to the latest build after March 31, and your templates migrate on first load.
The Product Tiers Under EdgeMax
The new branding reflects what the platform actually offers:
- EdgeMax Algo — fully automated strategy execution with all built-in signal modules
- EdgeMax Day Trader — discretionary execution management for manual and hybrid traders
- EdgeMax Complete — both modes under one subscription
All tiers include Command Center and the full Precision Indicators suite at no extra cost.
If You’re a Legacy AutoTrader Owner
If you hold a lifetime license, it continues to work under EdgeMax. The license system recognizes legacy codes alongside the new tier codes.
If your yearly maintenance lapsed, the activation fee is waived for returning AutoTrader customers — you just pick up a subscription. The platform has changed significantly since your last session. Command Center didn’t exist. Performance Lab didn’t exist. Discretionary Mode didn’t exist. The core execution architecture you trusted is still there, but the ecosystem around it is something you haven’t seen yet.
This is a good moment to take another look.
March 31
That’s the launch date. Updated documentation, refreshed product pages, and new content focused on what each EdgeMax tier does best will follow in the weeks after.
The execution engine keeps improving. The name just finally caught up.
